Mid-Century [Modern]

Mid-century modern style decor is a design trend that combines elements of the 20th century with a modern twist. It draws inspiration from the glamour of the art deco movement of the 20’s to the European furniture designers of the 1950s. Many graduates of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, such as Ray and Charles Eames, Florence Knoll, and Eero Saarinen, contributed to the Midcentury style furniture. This style is characterized by clean lines, organic shapes, and a mix of materials such as wood, metal, and glass. Comfort through ergonomics was successfully blended with elegance and sophistication.
